Ode To Miss Bramson

By Joseph Squitieri (my father)

Of all the fishes in the sea,

I’d rather be a bass.

I’d swim about the sea all day

and cut this English class.

I care not for this poetry

and less for Keats or  Shelley;

I’d rather be in Frank’s cafe

with Flora, Ann or Nellie.

I must admit, to English Lit,

you have brought charm and fun.

Your ready smile and subtle wit

was worth the corn and pun.

You are the reason, true and clear,

that I am in this class.

If you were not so sweet, my dear,

I’d rather be that bass. (“ha ha” hand written)

And the professor was most pleased “utterly delightful” she began her comments..
